Joan's Fall Felted Bag Pattern

I made this a while ago and then was commissioned to make one as a gift. Ravelry members have requested the pattern. And since I can't figure out how to get it on there, I will post it here! So go forth and knit a bag! Supplies: 1 skein Paton’s Classic Wool Taupe (get 2 if making an I-Cord for handles) 2 skeins Sensations Licorice Color 109 (note**** I got both yarns at Joann’s) Size 10-1/2 “ circular needles and DP needles With Paton’s Classic Wool, cast on 48 stitches and knit back and froth for 40 rows or 20 ridges. This is your base. Then pick up stitches around the base for your bag. Be sure to place marker for beginning of round. I then knit for 15 rows. (this just gives me a good oval base once felted, if you want more of a brown trim on the bottom of the bag, knit more of the brown) Switch to Joann’s Licorice and knit for an additional 12 inches. Switch back to brown and knit for another 3 inches. Don’t bind off). Do a knitted on I-cord with 4 stitches. (if you don't know how to do this go to http://www.knithelp.com/ . This will give you more of an edge on the finished project. Felt in hot water in washing machine. Be sure to check it often, until you reach your desired size. Do not run through the rinse cycle. Gently squeeze out any access water and then roll in beach towels. I then stuff mine with towels to dry. (I put mine in front of a fan to dry quicker!) I also used leather handles from a purse I picked up at a thrift store that are sewn on. I also sewed on a horn button and sewed on a large elastic hair tie for the closure. Hope this makes sense! Have fun and enjoy! Joan Happy Stamping & Knitting!
